Holly Bush Inn Report

 Report written by Irene

Date: 3rd November 2007

Investigators: Diane, Tony, Michelle, Kayleigh, Russ, Trudy, Irene together with Jackie and staff from the Hollybush.

Investigation Preparation:

11.00pm: The group were shown around the venue by Jackie, the landlady. The areas to be investigated were the Inn, a derelict barn, a detached bungalow, an outside tunnel leading to the cellars and a further tunnel which was now used for coal storage. It was decided to use the dining room as the hub, as this area was relatively newly built, compared to the main body of the inn.

11.20: Diane and Jackie went to a private area to enable Diane to interview Jackie, whilst ensuring that the rest of the group were unaware of any history of paranormal activity that may have been reported previously.

Locked off night vision camcorders were set up in the main bar and snug, where a trigger object was also set up. Motion sensors were set up at the door leading to the snug. EMF and temperature readings were taken throughout the venue. There was little to note in the EMF readings except on the stairs leading to the dining room, with the gauge reaching maximum at the top of the stairs. These stairs marked the boundary between the original building and the newer area. At the top of the stairs was a door leading to a flat, occupied by one of the staff members. The floor of the bedroom used by her granddaughter when she visited, jutted over the stairs and was the area where the greatest EMF activity was observed. We were later told that the granddaughter was very uneasy in that bedroom and had told her grandmother on several occasions that there were people in the room with her.

The group was split into two teams. Team 1: Diane, Tony, Michelle together with Sam and ? and Team 2: Kayleigh, Russ, Trudy, Irene and Jackie.

Group 1: 11.45pm – Barn: Nothing to note until 12.12 when all present felt a breeze. The entire group were stood in the centre of the barn and a rustling sound was heard at the far left corner at the back.

Group 2: 1.05am – Barn: Nothing experienced.

Group 1: 12.15pm – Bungalow: While the team were in the living room a bumping sound was heard coming from the bedroom. At 12.22 the team heard a breathing sound.

Group 2: 1.19am – Bungalow: Nothing experienced.

Group 1: 12.30pm – Coal House: The team en masse had a bad feeling about this area with several of them experiencing a cold feeling on their back. A noise was heard coming from floor level and Tony felt a cold breeze on the back of his neck and his t-shirt was tugged. Tony called out and taps were heard in response. When Tony again asked for spirit to make its presence felt, a sound of a shovel going into the coal was heard, followed by a very loud noise as the coal moved. This was captured on camcorder by Michelle and on digital recorder by Tony.

Group 2: 1.40am – Coal House: No uneasy feelings experienced. Very quiet until 1.49am when two taps and a “whoosh” sound were heard in response to Irene calling out.
